The female model

The female model is also an important subject in his work, in which a monumental appearance and a powerful visual language are key. The work is artisanally cast in the cire perdue technique. Depending on the sculpture’s appearance, Tom sometimes finishes a sculpture by grinding and patinating.

But increasingly, Tom leaves the casting skin of the sculptures intact; they are then forced to cool down after casting, creating a red patina on the skin. This creates an archaic, delicate look, leaving part of the casting process still visible. It is always exciting to see how a sculpture emerges from the mould.
