About Tom Seerden<\/h1><\/div>

Tom was born in 1957 in Panheel, the Netherlands. He studied at the teacher training programme in Nijmegen and then at the Academy of Visual Arts in Arnhem. Holidays, but especially a study trip at the Academy to Florence and Siena, made him realise how important art, architecture and Italy are to him. That is where his great passion and inspiration lies. And that has never changed, because still, living and working in his studio in Kessel, he spends a lot of time in Italy. Especially in the beautiful, multifaceted Abruzzo.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Bronze landscapes<\/h2><\/div>

He is fascinated by the beauty of architecture in general and picturesque villages, imposing castles, abandoned ruins, serene monasteries, often situated on imposing rock formations. This combined with his search for the right composition, strength, and tension in his work results in his powerful ‘landscapes’.<\/p>\n<\/div>

The female model<\/h2><\/div>

The female model is also an important subject in his work, in which a monumental appearance and a powerful visual language are key. The work is artisanally cast in the cire perdue technique. Depending on the sculpture’s appearance, Tom sometimes finishes a sculpture by grinding and patinating.<\/p>\n<\/div>
